“More Than A Mascot”
For more than 100 years…
The Hogan family has cared for Rameses, the live ram mascot that represents the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and one of the nation’s most passionate university fanbases. But as the next Hogan generation comes of age, the family faces a pivotal question: who will take the lead?
At its core, More Than A Mascot is a story of family legacy, university tradition, community involvement, and even rival kidnapping plots! It explores how traditions shape families and institutions, and what happens when they're on the edge of change. In an era where values shift rapidly, this documentary raises the question: How do we honor the past while embracing the future?

“More Than A Mascot”
More Than A Mascot is currently raising funds to bring this story to life. Our most immediate goal is to raise $30,000 for the next phase of principle photography. We aim to visit a UNC home game this fall to capture
Rameses and the Hogan family in action. This next shoot is vital to showcasing the Tar Heel spirit, the energy of the fan base, and the tradition Rameses and his family encapsulate. Whether you are a Tar Heel alum, a current student, a lover of animals, or someone who just appreciates a good story, you can help make this film happen! Supporting us now will ensure we catch this once-a-season opportunity to see the Rameses legacy up close.
Your donation will help cover our most urgent needs for gear rental and crew travel this fall. We encourage and appreciate donations of any amount.
